Health Assessments
Chandler
Consulting Inc. has developed an extensive health assessment
program offering a wide range of services, including pre-placement,
and third-party assessments. By establishing a baseline record
of an individuals general health and physical condition, companies
may protect themselves from medico-legal claims due to back injuries
or other musculo-skeletal health problems. An individuals physical
capacity to perform a particular job is assessed using the Kraus-Weber
back strength/flexibility rating. Skills related to physical accident
prevention are discussed as needed with employee or employer.
Assessments are offered in our Red Deer office or alternate locations.
To meet your medical needs, we have contracted the services of
a physician in Red Deer to provide Alberta drivers medicals, as
well as third party health assessments.
In response to the US Government's decision to accept Alberta/Canadian medicals to meet US medical
requirements, Chandler Consulting Inc. has developed a Health Assessment program specific for drivers
subject to US DOT Regulations.
Audio Metric Testing
Chandler Consulting Inc. has developed Audiometric testing as an extension to our Health Assessment program. Noise is
one of the most common of all workplace hazards and, if not controlled, causes hearing loss in workers. Our dedicated team will manage
the data, manage abnormal test results, and manage the annual scheduling tasks.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Spirometry (meaning the measuring of breath) is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring lung
function, specifically the measurement of the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhal The main way workers
are exposed to chemicals in the workplace is through breathing substances into their lungs. Some chemicals do little more than cause
discomfort and irritation to the nose or throat. Others may cause severe physical damage and lung disease. Employers are required to protect
workers from overexposure to hazardous substances. If overexposures cannot be prevented by engineering or other controls, then personal
protective equipment, such as a respirator, is required. In these cases, employers must develop and follow a respiratory protection plan which
includes medical evaluation, fit testing, maintenance and training. In addition, workers exposed to certain health hazards, such as cotton
dust or asbestos, must be given periodic PFTs.
